Choku Zuki
Choku Zuki, or 'Straight Punch,' is a fundamental punching technique in Shotokan karate. It is characterized by a direct and linear thrust of the fist from the ready position to the target. The punch is delivered with the front fist and is aimed at the centerline of the opponent's body, typically targeting the solar plexus or face. The movement emphasizes a swift extension of the arm while maintaining proper alignment and rotation of the hips for maximum power and speed. Choku Zuki is often practiced from a stationary stance, such as Heisoku Dachi or Zenkutsu Dachi, to develop precision and strength in delivering a straight, effective punch.
