Yama Zuki
Yama Zuki, or mountain punch, is a fundamental technique in Shotokan Karate characterized by its powerful and direct nature. This punch originates from a strong, rooted stance with the feet shoulder-width apart and the body rotated slightly sideways to generate maximum force. The striking arm is extended straight from the shoulder, with the fist aiming to connect at the centerline of the opponent's body. Yama Zuki emphasizes a quick retraction after the punch to maintain balance and readiness for subsequent movements, reflecting Shotokan's emphasis on efficient, controlled martial arts techniques.
