Maete Zuki
Maete Zuki, or 'Lead Hand Punch,' is a fundamental technique in Shotokan karate. It involves delivering a punch with the front hand while maintaining a stable stance, typically Zenkutsu Dachi or Kiba Dachi. The punch is executed by extending the lead hand straight forward, aiming for the opponent's midsection or head, depending on the target zone. Proper technique includes a swift, linear motion with a slight twist of the wrist at the end of the punch to maximize impact. Maete Zuki is used for quick, direct attacks and can be followed by various combinations to maintain pressure on the opponent.
